Mavis you were talking about that fish almost dangling off the nest. I checked back and it came in over 3 hours ago and no eaters then either parent or kids. About a half hour ago parent came back as you described it and walked across the nest to the fish. That is still the picture now. Thanks for the update on Star. She must like Wisconsin.

JC

Thanks Mr John living in Wisconsin I know exactly where Tomahawk is located... I've been there often...for those who travel into Wisconsin...Minocqua is very popular place and just north of Tomahawk if you go east a little you will be back in Eagle River...so she is flying around the area she has been ...beautiful country and she will encounter lots of Eagles...
Mavis I've been watching that fish...hope its in the nest now as I return...made me sit up in my chair!!

RL ML

Parent just moved the fish in a little partially on top of one of the kids. Kid just moved away and parent started eating. Still no takers for feeding.
looked back before I posted this and now one of the kids was being fed and another came over to join the feeding.

Mavis

R L...back it up to where the kid on the wall was flapping his wings...then settled down..as soon as that happened...Lib, who was standing at the 1 o'clock position, FLEW across nest, almost sideways...over the kids...and landed by the fish. I tried to grab a screen shot as it was an unusual flight..but the screen went black when I hit pause. It happened just before I posted so we may have been watching at different times because she did not walk. Wonder why she doesn't pull it into the nest?

Mavis

Oophs, I see by your post, she is feeding herself and the fish. Good!!

Mr. John, I got up thinking about Star and Sky. Sure glad to see your post. The area sounds nice, JC. I bet Sky is not far away...he likes to hide out.

RL ML

Mavis, they decided they were hungry after all. The fish now is half gone. Saw the fly over to get to the fish. Didn't see that before and guess I just assumed that she walked over. Looked back again and saw Lib poof off, didn't see her fly. One of the kids is over self feeding now.

Chris

Looks like Star is fishing on Sucker Lake.

Mavis

Thanks, R L for checking back on that. Those kids are well fed. They'll be put on a diet anytime now. They are getting fat and lazy.

Guess what I saw flying over the rooftop!! What is it?

JC

That's awesome Mavis..they look like Pelicans to me..I've seen lots along the Mississippi and the Wisconsin River...

Mavis

JC...I thought pelicans, too. Wasn't sure.

I like the idea that Star is back in familiar places. She must really like the area. Wonder if she travels alone or has a friend. I wonder, in the summer, if Lib or Justice ever visit their juvie fun places. I doubt it...we see them too often at the nest all year for them to be gone long enough to visit anywhere far away. If what they say is true..that adults will return near their fledging nest to make their own nest...then Lib or Justice or both were hatched near Davenport! Now, that's a thought!

Carol C

Mavis they are pelicans. We have a lot here.
Thanks for the up date Mr. John.
Wisconsin is a pretty state. Where we were yesterday reminded me of WI.
1 kid on the rail 2 laying down.

Mavis

Thanks, Carol.

I see one parent on rooftop (upper right) and hanging on sideways in the wind. The wind must be pretty gusty..parent is really holding on. On kid on the rails...other two laying down like you said.

Going to say goodnight. Hope the incident in UK was not terror. Sounds bad, no matter what. Prayers for all affected.

Katy J

All 3 were just up and flapping their wings in the breeze. Fish still laying there.

Carol C

I wish which ever one would stay off that left side rail. Looks like it could break. They are really wingersizig a lot tonight. The wind is brutal out there today.

JC

Good morning...well one is standing on the branch instead of the rail..I don't see a parent but they could be behind the leaves..not as cool today as the Sun tries to peek through this morning...Have a good day everyone...

Mavis

Good morning, JC. I look for them to start branching any day now. They need to get a little more wind and air in their jumps. Branching is when they jump, hop, or flap their wings enough to 'fly' to a nearby nest tree branch. On the branch, they will exercise their wings to jump back and forth from branch to nest. This is when a viewer needs a strong heart!! I worry about that branch in front of the 6 o'clock position...it sways at the slightest breeze...it seems too mobile or unsteady. I hope they don't jump to it.

The kids look alert and ready for today. I'm still working on waking up.

Good morning everyone. So happy Star checked in, Mr. John.

JC

In Tomahawk Wisconsin...is a small park ( Sara Park) and it is bordered by the Wisconsin River and Lake Mohawksin...as one travels around the area ...a larger lake ...Lake Nokomis is a place one can see Eagles...also if looking skyward Eagles nests are often seen in the trees...I'm sure Star is in a area filled with beauty and food a plenty...

Carol C

JC that sounds like a nice place for her. 55 out now so not bad. One of the eagles at Stewards is branching. They have a big branch right off the nest.
Work for me, Have a good day everyone!!

Katy J

My cams are down. Anyone else?
Are they tagging today?

Mavis

Katy, mine are down, too. If they don't come back up soon...then Mr. John may have taken them down. He did that last year while they tagged the eaglets. I felt sure he would tell us before he does that this year...so...I bet they come back up soon.

Mavis

Mr. John, when you do tag the kids, (if you aren't doing it now), I want to watch them being removed from the nest...and I want to watch them being put them back.

We watch for hours on end...every move they make...every sliver of fising line that enters the nest...every feather they grow...every bite they take...and dodge a few PSs. Ok..I exaggerated a little...but you get the point. I feel robbed if you don't let me be a part of the tagging, too. It's like taking your baby for it's first shots and you are told to step out of the room..which we all know just ain't gonna happen! Just wanted you to know my feelings about this.

RL ML

No one to watch at Arconic so a quick nest tour to satisfy my eagleholic self. Close ups of the youngsters at Washington DC and Decorah. Long view of the 2 at Decorah North. I love that view of the pasture stream and trees in the background. At Sewards the one was sitting on the branch closest to the nest and other in the nest. Unhatched egg still there in the nest. First time that I saw no one home at Berry College going back to when cam went to day view. I have been surprised that they spend so much time in the nest. The 2 Florida ones were a rare sight on the nest once they fledged. Also check the Pittsburgh Hayes to see comments. With leaves on the trees the long range nest is no longer able to be seen, but they have a great long range view of the area and occasionally the comments there give me an idea of the happenings st the nest . This is the nest that was built in about 5 days after the nest tree fell down in a wind storm. One egg in the nest when tree went down and then one in the new nest about a week later.

Chris

Well the news is out on Twitter the kids are getting their bling and backpacks right now.

Chris

Sounds like the event started early this morning.
