Typepad back...YEY...all looks good at the nest this morning!!

Mavis

You are on the ball, JC!

Glad typepad is up again...thanks!

Mavis

The kids are resting...no parent in sight. I'm glad they have shade this year...sure helps a lot!

Lori, do you still have just the one hummer?

Mavis

Janis Dean has a $2500 Mint Julep at Churchill Downs...I don't know if I'd ever want a drink that bad!! I think it has gold in it. Maybe...if I won the Kentucky Derby today...I might order a half of one! Wonder if they would sell it that way...I'll probably never know.

Apollo is laying there, head up and looking around. Today, Gemini is 6 weeks old. I saw at least one gosling on the nest yesterday. Hope today will be fish day.

Katy J

'Morning, ran through replay back to pre dawn. Haven't seen a parent or a feeding. Hoping to see one soon.

Joyce

I was on a tour of the South with my Mother's travel group and we went to Churchill Downs the day after the Derby. The mint julips were really good. I'm a Vodka person, but the whisky drink was delish! Mother always watched the derby and she always bet on a grey horse. Loved the pagentry. I have RIDE TV on my Dish channels. Wonderful family channel and all about the horse.

The kids are Home Alone. Waiting for a Pizza delivery.

JC

Good morning Mavis and Katy..I set up the link but then got busy...My brother called from Colorado, said it was beautiful there and will reach the 80's today..they grilled out and enjoyed their deck last evening..Had to remember that just last Saturday he was getting 9" of snow...
Will be another beautiful day at the nest and up here in Wisconsin today..
Yesterday Apollo was trying out his wings even took a little hop..he is definitely not going to be outdone by his sisters...
Glad typepad is back up..hope we hear from everyone today...nice to know what's going on with everyone....
Mavis those cookies sounded good , I see the home company is based out of St Louis...You can even order from Amazon...what a hoot!!

JC

Morning Joyce missed your post as I was typing..

Katy J

Work Early today, cannot be late. So every one, Enjoy the day. Catch up later.

Chris

The Derby is going to be interesting today. There is a horse named Patch who happens to be missing his left eye. When they drew the post positions Patch got number 20. That would put him on the farthest position to the left so everything to his left would not be in his field of sight. Will be interesting to see how he is able to handle the race.

Mavis

Joyce, You've been everywhere! If I was there, I believe I'd have to order a Mint Julep in a paper cup. I'd have to be falling down drunk to order a gold one! Not to worry, though. They have already sold out of the pre-ordered gold drinks but still have a few of the $1,000 silver ones left.

Kids are just enjoying a lazy day so far. I'm glady they don't have to run for their food..they'd starve to death! They hobble along like I do!

Hope you have an easy day, Katy. Bye

Judith H

The kids are poking around the nest looking for scraps. Where's the food, crops look flat?

Joyce

Yes, Rich and I have traveled a lot in our 61 yrs. together. Our first big trip on the 1st Harley was 11 K miles with 37 states, 3 Canadian provinces. Spent two months on the road. The USA is beautiful from the back of a Harley. We are not the camping type, so Motel 6 was our nightly stay. Now it's the Best place in town. Back East, the rest stops were very special. Minn. has the most beautiful. Cosmos' blooming on the hwy. Bird viewing, free coffee and nice people directing you to your next stop. We did all of the Civil War battlegrounds. I could go on and on.
Love my birdies in the nest. I still need a tee shirt from Star and Sky and the NASA kids.
How 'bout it Mr.John?

Mavis

They are looking for it to drop from the sky, Judy. Lib just flew in for a few seconds...jumped to the attic...then took off. The kids never got up.

Judith H

Apollo found himself a gosling and is trying to self feed.

Mavis

I'm watching that!! I think he was sleeping on it...trying to hide it!

Mavis

I was on the phone and when I got back..Lib was jumping to the attic. I saw Apollo get up and then I saw something small..he picked it up and dragged it to the left of the nest. Didn't see the little gosling come in. Did anyone else see if Lib brought it in? I didn't notice any food on the nest earlier...that's why I wondered if Apollo was guarding it.

Joyce, you are right. The wind in your face and the view up close is the best way to see America. I remember sights ever were seen for the bike. We drove the RV...parked...and rode the bike to tour everything. Slept on the rim of the canyon one night, got up and watched the sun rise with hot coffee in our mugs. For those precious minutes, we had the world to ourselves. Wish I could do it all over again...so lucky I did it the first time!

Mavis

*** I remember the best sights ever seen by me were from the bike. (That other sentence up there is a mess!!)

Judith H

On rewind I think Liberty dropped it off.

Judith H

A long bushy tail arrived, squirrel being served.

Mavis

You can sure tell it's red meat by the parent's beak. I also noticed that when a meal is being served, that the hotel birds think it is sate to flutter around the nest area. I think maybe that was Fearless.

Judith H

I think I'll make 3 picks for the Derby, all longshots, #2 Thunder Snow...#12 Sonneteer and #18 Gormley. First, second and third, not necessarily in that order.
Too bad Patch has the way outside lane, makes for a long race.

Mavis

So...which horse will win the derby? The #1 spot ...far left position...has Looking to Lee. I like that position but not the horse. I'm thinking maybe McCraken in #15 position...Gunnerva in the #10 position. ..and I like Thunder Snow in #2 (because I love the name)!

Chris

If I could bet I would put my money on Always Dreaming. I hope Patch can get to the other side of the track fast so he is not last.
