Looks like Mercury is on his own now. Good Luck.
Wish the other 2 would get into camera site so we could see them.

I hate we did not hear from Sky. Glad to see Star is sticking around the same area.

I saw one of kids on the Long Branch earlier this afternoon...so I knew at least one of them was still around. They sure tend to stick close together. I haven't see L or J, though.

Thanks for the update, Mr. John.

Katy

Thanks Mr. John, any chance on getting NV back up, before the other two leave town?

Carol C

Mavis. I see others with that many hummers. Wow! That would be awesome! I have 2 it seems like. When one comes to the feeder the other chases it away.

Mavis

I have 6 regular hummers, Carol. Sometimes I see a stranger...but 6 is about my max. I would love to have activity like that. She said when she stepped out to take the video, they were buzzing around her head as well.

Hi Katy.

Katy

Hi Mavis, So Glad your eyes are better.
Haven't been commenting much, haven't seen our family or any Hummers.
I had to save an abandoned dog, he wound up at the pound and my spirits are low. To hot here for pets to be dumped, no chance for survival. He is safe now but at the shelter.

Chris

Katy, Do you have room for one more?

Mavis

Oh Katy...I know that is bothering you...and how much you would like to find him a safe, loving home. The dog was so lucky you found him and took the care to find him a safer place to be. Animal cruelty is hard to handle. Judy's dog, Ryan, AKA "Little ****" had a horrible life of abuse...just horrible. When he was brought in...the vet's office called Judy...they knew she was his only hope to be saved. He still has the scars but lives a grand life now. Heck...I just got a picture yesterday from Judy of him eating watermelon!! I can't even afford watermelon...and her dog is eating it! (I'm joking...I can afford watermelon)! Point is...someone may walk in and give the dog you saved a loving home. You did good, Katy. Maybe he will get that chance to be loved because of you. I hope so.

I'm calling it a night. Glad to know Gemini and Apollo are still around. Hope Mercury is finding food and goes to bed happy tonight. Just wish Sky would check in... Goodnight everyone.

Katy

Chris, I have the room, however this 10yr old intact male Jack Russell mix is not dog friendly. Incompatible with mine. Over the last 3 days, I have cared for him & tried to find him a home. No luck. The owner said he didn't want him and moved out.
Just don't understand how ppl can be so heartless.

Chris

Well keep talking him up to everyone it might help. All my cats come from the shelter... whoops Gracie did not but she was on her way to the shelter and I spoke up.

Katy

Hard to think of him locked up at the shelter.
Harder still to think that JERK will get a puppy and do it again!
This little dogs only crime was having too many birthdays. Sad...

Chris

Katy, Here is the story. The lady had to go to a nursing home. She had two cats and one died. A girl came to her home once everyday for four months to feed the cats and clean the litter pans every night. The old 22 year old cat died the end of November and she told the lady that it died. She said well take the other one to the pound. I heard later the lady cried about the cats so I took a bunch of pictures of Gracie and mailed them to her. She called me on the phone and was happy and laughing and felt so happy the little cat was happy and had a home. I am working now on Christmas pictures I can send to her of her once little cat.

Katy

Chris, you are a wonderful animal advocate.
Were the weather cooler here, I could've taken the time to either train him to be dog friendly or find him a forever home.
That is not what happened. I can only hope he gets adopted and is loved. In my situation, I DID what I could.

Chris

Yes you did Katy!

Katy

Is that Gracie?

Chris

Yep that is Gracie.

Roma

Katy, two questions: 1) Does the dog have staffy or pitty in it? 2) Are you on Facebook? I'd like to connect you with a resouce.

Katy

Roma, my Zuni is Staffy. She isn't the problem. The abandoned Jack Russell is not dog friendly. Lover of people tho.
No, not on FB.

This resource specializes in hard luck cases, aggressive personalities, disabled, and sick, abandoned dogs. You cannot appreciate their full impact and devotion to their cause without spending an hour--or ten--on their Facebook page; however, the web site is a start.

https://www.speranzarescue.org/

The rescue is about ten miles from me and is legit with high standards and incredible devotion to the dogs--no case too tough whether crippled, aggressive, abandoned, or even their most recent rescue--a dog in SC with a corn cob lodged in its digestive track and near death from starvation-- now on the road to recovery after surgery.

Try to track down Janine for some support--she started the rescue and has her own incredible, personal story.

They gained international attention since July 4, 2016 after rescuing a Boston Terrier puppy from a breeding farm in Lancaster, PA. It was hours from death, and a vet tied to a Lancaster-area shelter (now defunct!) recommended it be euthanized.

That pup was named Libre, French for Free, and is now the mascot of the rescue and has even met (and kissed) the Governor when animal abuse legislation was recently enacted.

If you have a picture, send an email with the dog's story along with the picture, or call.

**She works miracles.** This place is the real deal.

Katy

Thanks for the valuable information. Helps me to remember there are still good people in this world.

Chris

Roma this is an incredible resource. Also sponsored by Subaru. Katy contact them in the morning and lets get Jack a forever home! Maybe go back to the shelter and get some pictures.

Mavis

I love the TTV right now. The trees look crowned with silver leaves and the river appears snowy white. The lights across the river are still shimmering...beautiful black and white picture. It's a nice morning as well...temperature at the nest area is 61º with a predicted high today of 84º...20% chance of rain in afternoon. Slight breeze right now.

JC, did not hear much from you yesterday. Hope you are enjoying this morning with me. Mine is a littler warmer...but the air conditioner evens things out. Hoping for a good day for everyone.

Mavis

Rescue of a bald eagle is coming up on FOX News Channel...
